After having to relocate many times, Erwin V. Steinbach and his family finally settled in Erzgebirge, a region in East Germany. The family was known to be great architects, builders, merchants, judges, politician, and military men but was forced to turn to woodworking after the decline of the silver, tin, timber among other things declined. So for the better part of two thousand years the Steinbach family has been making nutcrackers and other wood carving souvenirs, gifts and other religious items. The Steinbach nutcrackers are the most popular items in Germany, but not Germany alone but all around the world. It is very evident how high quality these Steinbach Nutcrackers are because of the beautiful pieces that they are still creating. All you have to do is take a look at the fine detailing and you can see the care and time put into the creations of these Steinbach nutcrackers. They are a fine selection for collectors all around the world even today because of the high quality and beauty.
Herr Christian Steinbach was the head of the woodworking industry of all the Steinbach family for decades and the top designer of the original Steinbach nutcrackers. When Christian Steinbach passed away in 2007 his daughter, Karla, became the sixth generation president of Steinbach’s Nutcrackers to carry on the nutcracker traditional heritage. The tradition and fine creative work of the Steinbach Nutcrackers will continue just as it has all through history because traditional heritage is so important to the Steinbach family and their ancestors.
